Plainsong Live, the acclaimed Jakarta-based concert promoter, is delighted to announce its latest event. Joyland Sessions, set to take place on 29-30 November 2025 at GBK City Park, Jakarta, is a scaled-down version of Joyland Festival, Plainsong Live’s agship event that is on hiatus for 2025. This inaugural edition of Joyland Sessions will feature a strong roster of international and Indonesian acts alike, including headlining sets by Parisian nu-disco band L’Impératrice and San Diego indie-pop out t TV Girl.

In the absence of Joyland Festival 2025, Joyland Sessions helps to soften the blow by lling the void in a manner that’s identical in spirit if not implementation. “Joyland Sessions is not the same as Joyland Festival. The scale is very di erent, and it wouldn’t be fair to treat them as the same event, which is why we fully refunded Joyland Festival ticket buyers,” says Ferry Dermawan, Program Director of Joyland Sessions. “Joyland Sessions is something new we created after the refund process, so this year doesn’t pass by without sharing a piece of Joyland with you.”
For its maiden edition, Joyland Sessions is certain to be a memorable event thanks to the stellar roster of musical acts performing over its two days. Joining Day 1 headliner L’Impératrice will be the Conor Oberst-led American indie-rock group Bright Eyes; Kip Berman’s revived New York indie-pop combo The Pains of Being Pure at Heart who are returning to Jakarta for the rst time since 2012; plus pop singer-songwriter of the moment Bernadya, veteran indie rockers Jirapah, R&B duo Galdive and charming classic pop group The Cottons showcasing the breadth of Indonesian talent.
Meanwhile, appearing alongside Day 2 headliner TV Girl will be American singer-songwriter Sophia Regina Allison a.k.a. Soccer Mommy; Canadian electronic artist Luna Li; U.S. rapper and producer Oddisee with his live backing band Good Compny; plus a trio of frequently globetrotting Indonesian touring acts: Arabia-tinged funk squad Ali, romantic indie rockers Reality Club and Surabaya soul music purveyors Thee Marloes.
The scaled-down nature of Joyland Sessions compared to Joyland Festival means that there will be notable di erences between the two, such as the event spanning two days instead of three; the music performances taking place on one stage instead of three; and Joyland Festival’s signature programs will be absent with the exception of the White Peacock area for family-friendly activities, and assorted food and beverage stands showcasing Indonesian businesses.
On the other hand, being smaller doesn’t mean Joyland Sessions will sacri ce the high-quality experience audiences have come to expect from Plainsong Live events including past Joyland Festival editions and the upcoming Laleilmanino & Friends: Live in Concert set to take place on October 30. “While Joyland Sessions is smaller in scale, the ticket prices are similar to Joyland Festival because it will still feature an international lineup, full production quality, and the same care we put into every Joyland event,” says Dermawan. “The ticket price re ects the reality of making that possible in a more focused format.”
Speaking of tickets, daily passes for Joyland Sessions are also now available for purchase. Daily pass prices start at Rp 618,000 (early entry) and Rp 738,000 (regular entry), while the two-day pass price remains at Rp1,088,000. All prices are before tax; please visit joylandfest.com for ticket info and purchasing.
So while Joyland Festival is taking a break, Joyland Sessions will ensure that the magic will still unfold. Don’t miss it.
