Rotary Club of Metro East Taytay Helps Build a Healthier Community: “We’re This Close to Ending Polio!” A Day of Hope, Healing, and Service for World Polio Day
October 24, 2025 - Taytay, Rizal
In observance of World Polio Day on October 24, the Rotary Club of Metro East Taytay (RCMET) and the Rotaract Club of Metro East Taytay (RACMET) came together for a meaningful cause — to help end polio and promote a healthier community for children and families.
With the shared goal of spreading awareness and protecting lives, the clubs launched a 3-in-1 Service Project for a Healthier Tomorrow, a day filled with care, learning, and compassion.
Protecting Children Through “Patak Polio”
The project’s main highlight, “Patak Polio — One Drop That Saves a Lifetime,” brought vital Poliomyelitis vaccines to the children of Sitio Dayap, Brgy. San Roque, Angono, Rizal. Each drop represented a step closer to a world where no child suffers from polio — a disease Rotary has worked tirelessly to eradicate.
This effort was made possible through the kind support of the Municipal Health Office of Angono, Rizal, whose medical team helped ensure every child received safe and effective vaccination.
Promoting Clean Hands and Healthy Habits
To support overall wellness, RCMET and RACMET members also conducted “I-Wash to Iwas Sakit,” an interactive hygiene education session teaching children and parents about proper handwashing and the importance of cleanliness in preventing illnesses.
Through fun demonstrations and friendly guidance, families were reminded that good health starts with small, everyday habits.
Serving with Compassion Through Rotary Market
The day also featured the “Rotary Market: End Polio Now!” — an activity that promoted health awareness and community involvement. Members engaged residents with information, service, and encouragement, showing that helping others can be both meaningful and enjoyable.
A Team United for Service
The successful project was led by GP Don Santiago, SAG Marilyn Santos, and Service Director Ariel Espino, with the full support of the dedicated members of RCMET and RACMET. Their teamwork and passion reflected Rotary’s long-standing motto — Service Above Self.
The clubs also expressed gratitude to President-Elect Elmer Deloritos and the Municipal Health Office of Angono, Rizal for their invaluable partnership in making the event possible.
“Every drop, every visit, and every act of service brings us closer to a world where no child suffers from polio again,” shared the project team.
Together, We Create Change
The Rotary Club of Metro East Taytay and the Rotaract Club of Metro East Taytay continue to support Rotary International’s global fight to End Polio Now — showing that when people work together with kindness and purpose, real change happens.
Every helping hand, every shared lesson, and every act of love moves us one step closer to a healthier, safer, and polio-free world.
Together, we will End Polio Now!
