Rooted in the timeless philosophy of Gichin Funakoshi, the event celebrates not only athletic excellence but the deeper values of karate. As emphasized by Gilieto A. Luague Shihan, Chairman and Sole Representative to JKA World Federation Tokyo, Japan:
“Karate teaches us that the greatest victories are not only found in medals or trophies, but in the strength of character we build along the way. The virtues of perseverance, humility, respect, and discipline remain at the heart of what we do.”

Bringing together over 1,000 international and national participants, including dojo members, delegates, and stakeholders, the four-day event is expected to attract an audience of approximately 8,000 spectators daily. Participants will engage in intensive training (Gasshuku) and high-level competition, reinforcing unity across the global karate community.

This year’s tournament carries special significance as it commemorates the 70th Anniversary of Philippines–Japan Friendship, aligns with the vibrant Kadayawan Festival, and serves as the official national tryouts and selection event for the upcoming JKA World Cup 2027 in Takasaki, Japan.

The event is made possible through the support of esteemed partners, including the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, the Consulate of Japan in Davao, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency, alongside national and local government agencies and multinational corporations.

Global visibility will be driven through the media network of Associated News Agency, leveraging over 29 international publications across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Oceania. Coverage will include pre-event features, live event reporting, and post-event highlights, as well as social media amplification and branded storytelling opportunities for sponsors.

Echoing the enduring wisdom of Gichin Funakoshi:
“No matter how you may excel in the art of karate, nothing is more important than your behavior and your humanity as observed in daily life.”
